Interreg’s Nordic Bridge Project Kick-Off: A Strong Start in Sligo

The Nordic Bridge project officially launched with a productive and insightful kick-off meeting hosted in Sligo. This collaborative initiative brings together partners from across academia and industry, with the ambition to co-develop a challenge-based platform that fosters innovation, supports sustainability, and delivers long-lasting impact.

The first day of the meeting took place at Atlantic Technological University (ATU), where we focused on planning and alignment. Discussions centred on partner roles and responsibilities, the composition of work packages, and strategies for ensuring sustainability and long-term outreach. Umair Najeeb Mughal, our lead partner representative from Bodø University, facilitated the session, followed by an engaging presentation from Chris O’Malley on ATU’s industry collaboration and the Technology Gateway Network.

In the evening, the group gathered for dinner at Walkers Restaurant in Sligo – an opportunity to strengthen connections and continue the conversation in a relaxed setting.

Day two began with a visit to the AIM Centre, where we toured the facility and highlighted key NPA-funded projects including Arctic Edge, RoboDemo, and Sustainable SME. Our team shared insights into project management approaches and sustainability practices, setting the tone for continued knowledge exchange.

We then travelled to Future Cast sites in Cooloney and Manorhamilton, where JJ O’Hara delivered an inspiring presentation on the company’s ongoing projects and strategic vision. The visit concluded with a team-building excursion to the historic Parkes Castle – a chance to reflect on Irish heritage while further strengthening the bonds between project partners.

AIM was honoured to have been chose by the lead partners to host this first in-person meet-up and look forward to the innovation and collaboration that lies ahead.

Thank you to all our partners and local companies who made this a very memorable trip for all involved!
