AIM Centre Hosts Successful Workshops During Local Enterprise Week

AIM Centre was delighted to host a series of practical workshops during Local Enterprise Week, bringing together SMEs, industry professionals and academic experts for engaging discussions and hands-on learning opportunities.

Supported by Local Enterprise Office Sligo, the workshops focused on key challenges and opportunities facing businesses today, including collaboration with academia, sustainability and ESG reporting, and building more resilient and connected supply chains. The events provided a valuable platform for local businesses to explore practical solutions, share experiences and connect with experts and peers.

The first workshop, “Accessing Skills, Resources & Innovation Through Academia” was delivered in collaboration with Atlantic Technological University (ATU) as part of the Interreg NPA Nordic Bridge project. The workshop explored how businesses can more easily access academic expertise, student talent and applied research supports. Participants gained insights into practical ways to collaborate with academia to address real business challenges and accelerate innovation.

Later that afternoon, “Practical Sustainability & ESG Reporting for SMEs”, led by Ciara Greaney of White Spire, helped businesses navigate the growing demands around sustainability and ESG reporting. The session provided clear guidance on how SMEs can develop manageable reporting processes while making effective use of digital and AI tools to reduce administrative burden. This workshop was part of our Interreg NPA Sustainable SME project deliverables.

The final session, “Reimagining Supply Chains Through Interconnectivity”, examined how organisations can strengthen supply chain resilience through greater connectivity across systems and partners. Dr Seamus Dowling from ATU also explored cybersecurity considerations in MQTT-enabled connectivity, alongside insights and demonstrations connected to the Interreg NPA Arctic Edge project.

Across the three sessions, attendees had the opportunity to engage directly with speakers, explore new approaches to common business challenges and connect with other organisations in the region.

AIM Centre would like to extend its sincere thanks to Local Enterprise Office Sligo for their continued support in making these workshops possible as part of Local Enterprise Week. Their support plays an important role in enabling SMEs to access knowledge, expertise and innovation supports that help drive business growth and resilience in the region.

AIM Centre also thanks all speakers and participants who contributed to the success of the events and looks forward to continuing to support businesses through future workshops, collaboration opportunities and innovation initiatives.
