Bridging the Digital Gap: The TRANSFORM (Erasmus+ Project) Meeting in Sligo

Yesterday, partners of the TRANSFORM project, an Erasmus+ initiative, gathered in Sligo to review our progress in developing digital training resources for the smart manufacturing sector. It was a productive session filled with technical insights and collaborative problem-solving.

Technical Innovation and Collaboration

The meeting featured detailed presentations from our core partners, each bringing a unique set of resources to the table:

  • - AIM Centre: Focused on the "Concept to Factory" journey, detailing how the digital thread and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) can streamline SME operations.

  • - IESE: Addressed the critical world of cybersecurity, specifically the high-stakes convergence of Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT).

  • - ESTIA: Provided the overarching framework, ensuring our resources are built on a solid foundation of existing Industry 4.0 knowledge.

We were also pleased to welcome our evaluation panel, Richard McLoughlin of OxSynergy and Noel Mulkeen of Atlantic Technological University, and we would like to thank them for their time and the constructive feedback they provided during the session.

Following our discussions, we are now aligned on next steps and look forward to entering the final phase of the project.

A Taste of Sligo: Team Bonding Done Right

After a morning of deep-diving into digital transformation and cybersecurity, it was time to experience the legendary hospitality of Sligo. We swapped our laptops for forks and joined the Taste of Sligo Food Tour.

What followed was a two-and-a-half-hour moveable feast through the town’s best-loved patisseries, pubs, and restaurants. It was a fantastic afternoon packed with local stories and incredible flavours.

A massive thank you to Anthony Gray and all the wonderful establishments that hosted us:

  • - Hooked & Eala Bhan for their exceptional hospitality.

  • - Sligo Oyster Experience for a truly unique oyster tasting.

  • - Le Fournil for the irresistible treats.

  • - The Wine Buff and the historic Hargadons for the perfect pairings.

From local seafood and craft brews to sweet treats and signature cocktails, our visitors truly got to taste Sligo like locals.

TRANSFORM is a European collaboration led by AIM Centre (Ireland), in partnership with ESTIA (France) and IESE Business School (Spain). The project aims to develop high-quality, flexible training resources to help professionals, job seekers, and businesses build the skills needed for the future of manufacturing.
